“Trauma"

“Trauma” is an unhelpfully vague term in a clinical setting. Talk about reduced connectivity between the hippocampus and the amygdala. Talk about cortisol, adrenaline, and addictive behavior patterns associated with specific hormonal cocktails.

Talk about the effect of prolonged arousal on the microbiome and in turn the effect of reduced colon probiotic diversity on serotonin production, digestion, and nutrient absorption. Talk about the specific effects of different micronutrient deficiencies. Talk about chronic pain.

Talk about the parasympathetic nervous system and different strategies for stimulating the vagus nerve. Talk about chronic tension and the feedback loop of tension and cardiovascular hardening. Talk about oxygenation and the negative feedback loop of holding one’s breath.

Talk about self-hypnosis and autoneurolinguistic programming, because people often engage in both without even knowing it. Talk about the necessity of REM sleep and the effect of hyperarousal on sleep patterns. Talk about color theory, artificial lighting, chemical sensitivities.

Talk about the known psychological effects of square corners, LED displays, and lack of greenery. Empower trauma survivors (that’s everyone btw) to recognize causal chains and adjust external stimuli to maximize internal balance. Teach biofeedback methods for mind and body.
